The Film Adaptation of a Novel I Liked
I'm going back to Darren Shan's "Cirque du Freak" series because I want to talk about the movie. I'll be honest I did enjoy the movie even if it's three books in one movie. The movie is watchable even if the viewer is not a fan of the series. At the beginning the movie, Darren Shan start to give the viewer an introduction to the story before the animated intro starts. (Which was amazing) If you pay attention to the blue dress with a black design that Madame Triska wears, the design is the intro animation. The actor that really got my attention was John C. Reilly as Larten Crepsley, Darren's master. Madame Truska a.k.a the bearded lady played by Salma Hayek also got my attention. Over all, the actors and actresses in the movie played their characters well. Sadly the "Cirque du Freak" movie did not do well in the box office back in October of 2009.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant

Paul Weitz, older brother of Chris Weitz and Oscar nominated in screenplay writing with his brother and Peter Hedges for About a Boy in 2002 , directed and wrote the screenplay with Brian Helgeland, Oscar winner in screenplay writing for Mystic River in 2003, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. Same name from the second book in the series from Darren Shan and the movie is under Universal Pictures.

The real release of this movie was January 15, 2010 but was moved up to October 23, 2009 for space for other movies in January or so. Paul was hoping this movie would have done well to make the next one. Sadly the Budget was $40 million and only got $6,293,205 opening weekend in October.
The total on the U.S. was $13,869,515, the movie played for five weeks at 2,754 theaters and foreign total was $25,369,598. So the movie made $39,232,113 worldwide.
